The birth of Intraco Group dates as far back as the British period in Kolkata. In the year 1969 ‘Hotel Agrabad’, the first 4-Star rated international hotel, was established in the port city of Chittagong, Bangladesh, erstwhile East Pakistan. Soon after, the founders of Hotel Agrabad invested in many other industries by establishing Jahanara Real Estate, Jahanara Shipping Lines, Ali Cold Storage and Dhaka Yarn & Dying.
Through the dynamic leadership of Mr. Mohammed Riyadh Ali, and the hard work and dedication of all staff members, these companies experienced much growth throughout the next decade and in 1979 they were merged into a single group of companies and named INTRACO. For outstanding achievements in the hospitality industry as well as import and export, Intraco Group received several trophies and the ISO 9000:2001 certificate.
