Only 49 percent of Bangladesh’s population has access to electricity from the national grid. Fossil fuels account for almost all the current capacity of 5,500 MW, with renewable sources like solar power contributing just 55 MW. Intraco Renewable Energy Ltd (IREL) was formed in an attempt to reduce this gap. IREL also works with bio gas and wind power and is rapidly gaining market share in the renewable energy sector.
